LESSON TWO - Sandy Beaches & Rocky Shores

$50.00

In this lesson I will take you through the different steps and techniques I have used to create the sandy beaches and rocky shorelines in some of my pieces. We will be creating three different style landscapes from cliff faces to sandy beaches with rocks all utilizing both Counter Culture DIY’s “3D Crete” as well as quick set standard concrete from the local hardware store. Once the resin is poured we will decorate the landscapes together using different mosses, grasses, and palm trees.

NOTE: this class does not include basic wave pouring techniques. Those techniques can be found in LESSON ONE - Small Trinket Bowl with Waves. The techniques learned there can be applied when creating the water effects in your concrete landscape!

When you purchase you will receive a downloadable link to a .PDF of a printable supplies list. Please provide your email address at the check out and I will email you a dropbox link to a 6 part lesson which you can easily download within 24 hours (the entire lesson plan is roughly 5GB if video).

I am also available for any questions you may have and offer support with the purchase of each lesson plan! Be sure to check out the links in this shop for where to get some of the tools and supplies I use (applicable to Canada).

In this short video I’ll take you through the various steps of creating your beaches and rocks and give you a brief summary of what the full course will entail!

LESSON 2: All About Concrete

In this lesson we’ll go over your materials. Here I’ll introduce you to the two types of concrete I use for my pieces; 3D Crete by CounterCultureDIY and your very basic industrial grade hardware store concrete!

LESSON 3: Forming Sand and Rocks

This will be the meat of the lesson! In this video I’ll take you through a few different sand and rock techniques to help you find which one works best for you! We’ll go over how to do cliffs that drop straight into water and also how to create a tropical white sand paradise featuring some more wild looking rock formations.

LESSON 4: Painting Your Rocks

Now that you have your sand and rocks on your piece it’s time to bring them to life with highlights and low lights! In this lesson I’ll guide you through the foundation of painting with various tones, then how to add your low lights between the cracks and then finally how to drybrush on your highlights.

Our final step for your piece will be how to add greens. I’ll go through how to create low lying cliff cover and also a more wild jungle landscape while working around the rocks of your piece!

By end end of this course you will have the techniques to create your own beautiful oceanic landscapes! What will you try next? An unforgiving North Atlantic Ocean? Or perhaps a calm breeze tropical beach side? Be sure to share your projects with me! I love to see what everyone comes up with!
